Haus Schwerinsburg
When we first set foot in this historic old German house way back in 1997 we fell in love with this place. For 20 years we lived and raised our 3 beautiful daughters in this awesome house and constantly renovated and improved this property till where we are today.
We forever dreamed of transforming it into a guesthouse and a great deal of thought went into what we desired to achieve with our design and decor, an expression of who we are and a home-from-home for our guests.
This old place has such a rich and beautiful history that we have experienced over these 20 years from people coming back to share their memories and sentiments.
Our inspiration is the memories we have from these people and the years spending raising our children here. When we think back on our days here, we remember joyful days, filled with an abundance of good memories and beautiful people.
We have sought to share with guests the spectacular view and homely, peaceful atmosphere that this old German house has to offer.
The Guesthouse has also been renovated and designed to accommodate and make guests feel at home, families as well. Consider it a place to take your family for some quality time together. We are definitely family oriented and value this sentiment.
Also, to the distinction between guesthouse and home in all areas. It is westward facing so it makes the most of the spectacular sunsets and intense golden afternoon light that bathes Windhoek.
The spacious lounge and dining area extend to exterior decks overlooking the swimming pool and town allowing the restful smell and sounds of nature to envelop the senses, while open deck areas and secluded nooks in the garden provide the perfect resting place from which to soak up the sun.
We have complemented this approach in the decor with colors that are reminiscent of the old Windhoek and the Namib Desert. Furniture, accessories, light fittings, and wrought-iron chandeliers are chosen to complement and enhance the historic feeling.
The garden was planned to accommodate the low rainfall of our country. The effect is a unique blend of minimalist, contemporary old Windhoek and old farm-house – quiet peaceful atmosphere with views over the Khomashochland and city. We also have our very own vegetable garden on the premises which provides us with organic herbs and vegetables used in the food that we prepare.
